Christoph Metzelder : anything is possible for Germany

Christoph Metzelder claims "everything is possible" for Germany at Euro 2008 after their impressive victory over Portugal.

Joachim Low cruised men in the last four thanks to a 3-2 victory in Basle last night and swashbuckling nature of the performance led the Real Madrid defender Metzelder to believe that this could be their year.

"After having struck on Portugal, anything is possible," he said.

"It is unfortunate that a team as strong as Portugal had to go home but we have done an excellent job against them.

"We are a strong team mentally and physically and now we made the semi-finals and we'll see what happens."

The former Borussia Dortmund star has praised the Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo, who could join Metzelder the Bernabeu this season.

"Ronaldo is a very good player," said Metzelder. "It is very fast and we knew what we were against.

"In the last 10 minutes of the first half, he made life difficult for us but we defended well.

"We know it can be deadly when given room to manoeuvre but we did an excellent job in managing limit his chances."

Then for Germany is a semi-final clash against the winner of the meeting tonight between Croatia and Turkey.
